NFPA 1006 Awareness Level Vehicle Extrication – April 3, 2021

 

RS Rescue’s NFPA 1006 Awareness Level Vehicle Rescue course is the entry level to vehicle extrication.  Students will be introduced to the various stages of automobile accidents and learn how to safely and efficiently navigate through these stages in a team environment.

This course includes hands on training for EVERY TOOL AVAILABLE AT THIS LEVEL!  RS Rescue does not, and will never run a “This is how you would use this tool.” type program.  Some of the areas we will be covering include:

  • Proper PPE selection
  • Scene size up, safety, and scene support operations
  • Identification and mitigation of existing and potential hazards common to vehicle rescue
  • Determine and establish the required fire suppression and safety measures
  • Various light passenger vehicle stabilization techniques
  • Light passenger vehicle construction
  • Identify and evaluate various types of vehicles in response area
  • Assortment of glass management techniques
  • Battery access and electrical system isolation
  • Use, care and inspection of common hand tools related to vehicle rescue
  • Patient access, care and handling 

You and your team will receive instruction in a step by step manor focusing on systematic scene management approaches coupled with an assortment of stabilization tactics.   Tactical priorities will be discussed and identified.  Real time staged scenarios will be included throughout the training for you and your crew to tackle.  These scenarios are designed to build your confidence as we progress through the training.  

Space is limited to ensure personal attention for each student and lots of hands on tool time.

OFA Blended Class – April 19, 2021

 

OFA RECRUIT CLASS ONLY!

During this course, students will be introduced to the various stages of automobile accidents and learn how to safely and efficiently navigate through these stages in a team environment. You will learn how to identify and isolate potential hazards to both you and the patient. We will focus on Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS) and the hazards that these systems pose to todays firefighters. Systematic scene management approaches coupled with an assortment of stabilization and glass management techniques will have you ready for day two!

You and your crew will go through step by step training evolutions on the safe use of heavy hydraulics equipment such as cutters, spreaders and rams. The afternoon portion of the day will include real time staged scenarios for you and your crew to tackle! Space is limited to ensure personal attention for each student and lots of hands on tool time.

Requirements:

  • No pre-requisite course required
  • RS Rescue online pre course (access granted two weeks prior to course dates)
  • CSA approved safety footwear
  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves

NFPA 1006 – 2021 Edition Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue – Awareness Level

 

RS Rescue’s NFPA 1006 – 2021 Edition CPVR Awareness Level 

 

 

 

RS Rescue’s NFPA 1006 CPVR Awareness Level online course, students will be lead through the initial stages of common passenger vehicle rescue objectives and firefighter safety concerns.  We will deliver this as a two part program.  First part is online similar to our previous pre course components.  Focus is on the knowledge sets required by the NFPA 1006 standard.  A series of videos followed up with section tests.  Second part, will be an interactive, one on one session with Lead Instructor John O’Blenis.  This will be booked once part 1 is completed.  

This program incorporates all NFPA 1006 – 2021 Edition CPVR Awareness Level requirements.  Upon successful completion of all of these requirements, an NFPA 1006 -2021 compliant CPVR Awareness Level certificate will be issued.

 

Objectives:

 

This course covers all NFPA 1006- 2021 Edition Chapter 8 CPVR Awareness Level requirements that include:

  • Site control and scene management
  • General hazards associated with vehicle search and rescue incidents
  • Traffic control
  • Size up of existing and potential conditions at vehicle search and rescue incidents
  • Identifying probable victim locations and survivability
  • Making the search and rescue area safe
  • Identifying and controlling hazards presented by the vehicle, its position, or its systems
  • Identifying, containing, and stopping fuel release
  • Patient protection and removal.
